{"id":20857,"date":"2023-07-28T23:08:34","date_gmt":"2023-07-28T15:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/colleges.segi.edu.my\/sarawak\/?p=20857"},"modified":"2023-07-31T23:12:38","modified_gmt":"2023-07-31T15:12:38","slug":"segi-students-experience-firefighting-firsthand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/colleges.segi.edu.my\/sarawak\/segi-students-experience-firefighting-firsthand\/","title":{"rendered":"SEGi students experience firefighting firsthand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Students taking the Diploma in\u00a0Occupational Safety and Health (DIOSH) at SEGi College Sarawak took a fun trip to a fire station at Tabuan Jaya.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This was a great opportunity for the students to learn about fire safety and the procedures and equipment necessary for putting out fires.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Besides being taken on a tour of the fire station and being briefed about fire protocol, the students also had an interesting and eye-opening time putting on firefighting suits, sitting in the fire trucks, and witnessing the firefighters while they handled the emergency hotline.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">According to the annual report released by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysia witnessed a total of 40,246 fire incidents in 2019. Among these incidents, 10,461 cases were classified as structural fires, which encompassed fires occurring in buildings and other structures. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Unfortunately, the year also recorded 224 fire-related fatalities and 450 cases of injuries.
