On 11 and 12 November 2022, two groups of students from Allied Health programmes organised the SEGi College Sarawak Carnival Day, where they conducted basic health screening tests for the staff, students and the public.<\/p>\n
The health screening tests included ABO grouping and blood glucose tests. On top of that, an \u201cAnatomical Maze\u201d counter was set for the visitor to re-organise the organs in a human model. The purposes of basic health screening tests are to detect the blood type and blood glucose levels, while the \u201cAnatomical Maze\u201d enhances the knowledge about the human body’s organisation.<\/p>\n
Each group consists of four students. Two students were helping with ABO grouping and blood glucose tests, while another two were helping at the \u201cAnatomical Maze\u201d counter. All students are equipped with the related knowledge to interpret the test results and likewise explain the anatomy and physiology of human beings.<\/p>\n
ABO grouping is a test performed to determine an individual’s blood type. It is based on the premise that individuals have antigens on their red blood cells (RBCs) that correspond to the four main blood groups: A, B, O, and AB. As for the \u201cAnatomical Maze\u201d, the structures and functions of human organs were identified.<\/p>\n
Through this event, all students were trained to deal with people. Communication and interpersonal skills can be enhanced. The students were lucky to meet YB Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen, a Malaysian politician from the Democratic Action Party (DAP). He had visited the booth for the ABO grouping and blood glucose tests. Students were excited about his present.<\/p>\n
The Programme Leader had a post-mortem with the students after the event. All students provided positive feedback and hope to participate in more activities in 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
