students discover the real beauty of Penang"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SEGi College\u2019s School of Hospitality and Tourism recently gave our students a chance to break free from the classroom and learn in new environments in the \u2018Tour for Muda\u2019, when we tried to turn the city of Georgetown itself into a virtual classroom for our students to explore the wide range of living cultural expressions that exist in our local communities and to experience hands-on the hidden gems of Penang.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Tour for Muda\u2019 is a mini version of the Heritage Tour, having been inspired by the previous Heritage tours held every semester in School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.<\/p>\n<p>The main purpose of this trip was to bring the classroom out into the real world, with real-world experiences and physical connections so that our students can be in their communities and experience the culture and beauty within in a way \u00a0that can capture their imagination and enrich their learning experience.<\/p>\n<p>This particular experiential learning included visits to culturally rich tourist attractions around Georgetown such as Logan Memorial, the Esplanade (Padang Kota Lama), St George&#8217;s Anglican Church, the Goddess of Mercy Temple Penang, the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Kapitan Keling Mosque, \u00a0and Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi, as well as the experience and taste of the banana-leaf dish at Sri Anandha Bahwan.<\/p>\n<p>The students had a great time soaking in the rich culture and beauty of Penang, and although tired at the end of the day, had a happy
