On 1 July 2026<\/strong>, the Department of Psychology, SEGi College Penang<\/strong> successfully organised a Final Year Project (FYP) Workshop<\/strong> at the Lecture Theatre, Level 5, Main Building. The workshop was attended by undergraduate and Diploma in Psychology students, particularly those preparing to embark on their Final Year Project (FYP), providing them with essential guidance to navigate the research process with confidence.<\/p>\n

The workshop was designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to successfully complete their research projects. Participants gained a comprehensive overview of the Final Year Project journey, including its objectives, assessment requirements, and the expectations for each stage of the research process, enabling them to better plan and manage their academic work.<\/p>\n

A key focus of the session was developing a strong research proposal<\/strong>. Students received practical guidance on identifying research problems, formulating research questions and hypotheses, conducting literature reviews, selecting appropriate research methodologies, and avoiding common mistakes in academic writing. The session also emphasised the importance of critical thinking, ethical research practices, and academic integrity throughout the research journey.<\/p>\n

To further enhance students’ research capabilities, the workshop included a hands-on training session on Zotero Reference Management Software<\/strong>. Participants learned how to install and use Zotero to organise research articles, import references from academic databases, generate accurate in-text citations and reference lists automatically, and integrate the software with Microsoft Word. The practical session helped students improve their efficiency in managing academic sources while reducing referencing errors.<\/p>\n

The workshop provided valuable preparation for students as they begin one of the most significant milestones of their academic journey. By strengthening their research competencies, planning skills, and confidence, the programme equipped participants with the tools needed to conduct high-quality academic research and prepare for future postgraduate studies or professional careers.<\/p>\n
