SEGi College Penang recently hosted Warisan Rasa: The Art of Malay Cooking<\/strong>, an immersive culinary session that gave students the opportunity to explore the rich heritage of traditional Malay cuisine while learning directly from renowned culinary entrepreneur Chef Ayu Yusoff (Cerita Kak Ayu)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The session introduced students to the cultural significance of authentic Malay dishes, highlighting the stories, traditions, and techniques that have been passed down through generations. Beyond recipes, students gained a deeper appreciation of how food reflects Malaysia’s diverse cultural identity.<\/p>\n

Adding further inspiration to the session, Chef Ayu shared her entrepreneurial journey, offering valuable insights into building a successful culinary brand, overcoming industry challenges, and turning passion into a thriving business. Her experiences encouraged students to pursue their aspirations with confidence and creativity.<\/p>\n

A key highlight of the programme was its interactive, hands-on approach. Rather than simply observing a cooking demonstration, students worked alongside Chef Ayu, preparing traditional Malay dishes under her guidance. Throughout the session, they practised authentic cooking techniques, learned professional tips, and refined their culinary skills in a real-world learning environment.<\/p>\n

The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for students to bridge classroom learning with practical industry experience while strengthening essential skills such as teamwork, communication, creativity, and attention to detail. It also reinforced the importance of preserving Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage for future generations.<\/p>\n
