The initiative aimed to introduce participants to the ecological significance of <strong data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"470\">Sungai Juru<\/strong> while equipping them with foundational eco-tour guiding skills. The programme aligns closely with the learning outcomes of hospitality and tourism education, emphasising <strong data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"711\">experiential learning, sustainability, and community-based tourism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"181\" data-end=\"714\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-23013 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/colleges.segi.edu.my\/penang\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/01\/3bf5f374-28a9-4e9a-ab97-4bd292d80016-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"745\" height=\"559\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"1094\">First-year students from the <strong data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"793\">School of Hospitality and Tourism Management<\/strong>, enrolled in the <strong data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"850\">Introduction to Hospitality Studies<\/strong> course, joined the programme alongside villagers from the Sungai Juru community. This collaboration created a unique opportunity for students to engage directly with local stakeholders and gain hands-on experience in community-based tourism.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1096\" data-end=\"1499\">The programme focused on developing students\u2019 understanding of <strong data-start=\"1159\" data-end=\"1189\">Sungai Juru\u2019s biodiversity<\/strong>, including its flora and fauna, while introducing essential guiding skills such as <strong data-start=\"1273\" data-end=\"1331\">storytelling, visitor management, and safety awareness<\/strong>. Their involvement was integral to the programme\u2019s success and provided students with authentic learning experiences.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2575\" data-end=\"2934\">The initiative provided valuable opportunities for students to enhance their practical skills, deepen their understanding of sustainable tourism, and foster stronger ties between the institution, industry partners, and the local community.
