Held online on 16 May 2025 and organised by MNNF Network, the event brought together brilliant young minds from around the world to pitch real-world solutions driven by technology and creativity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"413\" data-end=\"933\">The first team\u2014Lam Yong Qin and Lee Kai Min\u2014secured a Silver Medal for their IoT-based Smart Recycling Bin. Their prototype deploys automated sensors to detect and categorise waste materials, promoting efficient segregation and smarter recycling habits. This effort reflects a growing global urgency to address the 2.24 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste generated annually, with less than 20% being recycled according to the World Bank.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"935\" data-end=\"1296\">Meanwhile, Melvin Lee and Stefani Ang claimed a Bronze Medal with an AI-powered automation system that addresses digital transformation challenges in businesses. The project demonstrates how intelligent automation and data insights can enhance productivity and decision-making in future-ready enterprises, a crucial consideration in today\u2019s data-driven economy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1298\" data-end=\"1637\">The success of these student-led innovations reaffirms SEGi College Penang\u2019s mission to provide experiential learning that bridges theory with practical application. By empowering students to design tech-based solutions with environmental and societal value, the institution continues to build a pipeline of talent aligned with national and global goals.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1639\" data-end=\"1979\">These achievements also speak to the growing importance of digital capability in solving sustainability challenges.
