The Industrial Visit is essential to<\/span> the DIMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology) programme at SEGi College Kuala Lumpur (SUKL). As part of this enriching learning experience, students were granted the opportunity to explore the diagnostic laboratory under the pathology department of Hospital <\/span>Canselor<\/span> Tuanku<\/span> Muhriz <\/span>UKM<\/span> (<\/span>HCTM<\/span>), formerly known as Hospital <\/span>Universiti<\/span> Kebangsaan<\/span> Malaysia (HUKM). Located in Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, <\/span>HCTM<\/span> stands as one of the five university hospitals in Malaysia, overseen by <\/span>Universiti<\/span> Kebangsaan<\/span> Malaysia (<\/span>UKM<\/span>). <\/span>This article aims to shed light on the invaluable insights gained during the visit and its impact on the students’ professional development.<\/span><\/span> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF DIAGNOSTIC LABS\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The industrial visit covers mainly the Microbiology Cluster (Bacteriology Unit), Blood Study Cluster (Chemical Pathology & Hematology Unit), Tissue Studies Cluster (Histopathology Unit) and Blood Transfusion Cluster (Blood Bank Unit). Diagnostic laboratories play a pivotal role in modern healthcare. They are instrumental in accurately diagnosing diseases, monitoring patient health, and guiding effective treatment plans. During the industrial visit to HCTM, students had a firsthand opportunity to witness the sophisticated techniques and state-of-the-art equipment used in these labs. The visit gave them a deeper understanding of the significance of accurate and timely diagnostic reports, underscoring the crucial link between the lab and the healthcare team.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
