Congratulations!\u00a0 So now you\u2019ve finished your secondary-school education and you\u2019ve successfully obtained your SPM or O Levels.\u00a0 What comes next?\u00a0 Well, you don\u2019t have to zoom right off to college.\u00a0 As much as we here at SEGi College Kuala Lumpur<\/em><\/strong> are providers of quality higher education, we also understand that for many people, college might not be a viable option just yet<\/strong>. Although we do recommend arming yourself with a college diploma or degree, for some of you, that is something that you might like to put off for the time being.\u00a0 So we\u2019ve come up with a list of things that you can do to strategically plot your bright future.<\/p>\n

Here are some things that you could consider doing right after graduating from high school.<\/p>\n

Gain work experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You might be thinking, \u2018Work?\u00a0 Gosh, that\u2019s boring.\u00a0 It\u2019s unglamorous.\u2019\u00a0 Well, we\u2019re here to tell you that it doesn\u2019t have to be.\u00a0 In fact, if you choose the right industry and job, you can gain invaluable experience about life, about people, about working with people as you chart out the course of your life.\u00a0 Working a legitimate job will mean that you learn to work with people, and thus brush up your social and communication skills.\u00a0 These skills will be essential when you eventually begin college life.\u00a0 Plus, while you\u2019re working, you get to save up money to pay for college.\u00a0 And for those of you who don\u2019t need to worry about college fees, at least you\u2019ll have pocket money while you\u2019re studying.<\/p>\n

Pursue your passion<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Many people discover a passion for something when they\u2019re still in school, but somehow, what with studying and exams and other school activities, they just never had the time or the opportunity to explore this passion.\u00a0 Is there something you\u2019ve always wanted to try your hand at?\u00a0 Is there a particular interest or hobby, a sport or a musical instrument, or a skill you\u2019ve always wished you could learn?\u00a0 Well, now\u2019s the time for you to do that soul-searching.\u00a0 Figure out what it is that stirs your excitement.\u00a0 And you might just figure out what it is you want to do for the rest of your life.\u00a0 Or even if it\u2019s just for a while, it won\u2019t matter.\u00a0 Just explore your mind and heart and find your passion.<\/p>\n

Learn about your career options<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As a young person, as smart or as schooled as you may be, you might not have the benefit of years and experience, but the people who care about you certainly do.\u00a0 Your parents, grandparents, uncles and aunties, ex-teachers, older friends.\u00a0 Many of them, having gone through many decades of life, have the wisdom and knowledge to advise you about your career options.\u00a0 And they understand you, the things you like or don\u2019t like, your personality.\u00a0 These are very important for the choice of a career, because many careers require certain types of personalities and ways of thinking.\u00a0 Then perhaps write a few possible choices down, and then you can begin your research, and you can search your soul.\u00a0 It\u2019s of crucial importance to make an informed decision before signing up for any degree or diploma course.<\/p>\n

Plan your education<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Just as everyone is different, everyone\u2019s life journey is different.\u00a0 You don\u2019t need to choose the most popular degree or diploma course, or the most glamorous.\u00a0 Think long and hard about what it is you want to commit yourself to, and make sure you choose a subject that interests you and makes you want to learn more and more and more.\u00a0 One of the key reasons of failure in education, especially higher education, is picking a subject that\u2019s boring, or hard to understand.\u00a0 But once you\u2019ve figured out what makes you excited, you\u2019ll find that learning is easy and fun, and for many people, it\u2019s also much easier to ace those exams.\u00a0 And off you\u2019ll go, towards your chosen career and your bright future.<\/p>\n
